Ballet Folklorico de Austin will illuminate OAXACA PRESENTE with their bailes, among them Pinotepa, Jarabe de Mixteca, y Danza de la Piña . If you haven't seen them perform, I highly recommend you keep them on your radar not only for this day but for their big Guelaguetza coming up in Septiembre and all the other performances they organize. Ballet Folklorico de Austin is lead by the fierce Edgar Yepez and their comunidad of danzantes, familias, gente trabajadora. Edgar Yepez has brought the Guelaguetza to Austin and awareness about Oaxacan culture for more than a decade now. I want us to honor them on this special day.

We are offering sliding scale/choose your price ($5, $10, $15 options) because we want everyone to take part and join us for OAXACA PRESENTE. We want la raza to enjoy and partake in their roots and cultura, and for this to be an inclusive celebration that also functions to educate and inspire todxs. todo para todxs!

BALLET folklórico DE AUSTIN
via Ballet Folklórico de Austin: Somos un lugar enfocado en entrenar a niños y jóvenes en la disciplina de danza folklórica mexicana. Por medio de la danza los maestros inculcan en los niños y jóvenes el valor del respeto, tolerancia, disciplina, y amor por las costumbres mexicanas.
Por medio de la danza folclórica buscamos crear un espacio que promueva entre sus integrantes y en la comunidad un sentido de arraigo y pertenencia a sus raíces mexicanas.

TIANGUIS is more than a place to make sales. Tianguis intends to bring communities together through food, conversation, artistry, ceremony, intention, immersion, mutual aid, collective heart.
